Trip to Uganda

Labelled as the pearl of Africa, the East African country of Uganda is filled with sceneries that will take your breath away. Everything about this place is fascinating, from its natural wonders to its exotic wildlife, Uganda lives up to its label. Uganda is located in East Africa which is bordered by Sudan, Kenya and the democratic republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Tanzania. This place is most famous for its biodiversity and great lakes all around. Its wildlife terrain is to die for which now has developed itself into tourist spots. Some of the most popular places in Uganda are the Bwindi forest, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park and obviously the Queen Elizabeth National Park. 1. Lake Victoria

This is the largest lake in Africa and is also the largest tropical lake in the world (around seventy thousand square kilometres). Lake Victoria also happens to be the world’s second largest freshwater lake. Marking itself on the map by falling on the geographical likeliness across three countries with only forty-five per cent under Uganda’s control, this lake is an absolute tourist magnet. Mark this place for indeed is a place worth dropping by.

2. Murchison Falls National Park

Also known as Kabarega National Park, this place is located in the northwestern part of Uganda. Murchison Falls National Park is known largely for its amazing wildlife housing various species of animals including the big fives i.e elephants, lions, leopards and buffalos. It also used to the home to many Rhinos before they went extinct due to recurrent hunting by the poachers. Luckily, they are being introduced here again with their breeding. Some of the other animals that you’d find here are Antelopes, Uganda Kob, Hartebeest, Oribi, and Giraffes.

3. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This is amongst the top tourist spots in Uganda for it has a rich ecosystem with various species of birds and animals. There are 120 recorded species to walk the land of this park with around 200 different butterfly species. There is a dedicated trail for Gorilla watching where you can have a closer look into their ecosystem. Other primates such as Colobus Monkeys, Chimpanzees can be seen walking the grounds along these trails. In spite of being remote, this place is amongst the most sought-after places for its gorilla trails. Half the global population of Mountain Gorillas can be found here.

4. Lake Mburo National Park

This popular tourist spot is located in the western part of this country in the districts of Kiruhura. The park is just thirty kilometres away from the city of Mbarara and has over three hundred species of birds. You can also find various species of animals such as wild buffaloes, zebras, and Impalas. If you want to tour the park, there are provisions for luxury tents.
